Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I park?

Free 2 hour validated parking is available in the parking structure (entrance on Kawaiaha’o St). There is also metered street parking in front of the building along Cooke St. Make sure I validate your stamp before you leave!

How do I get to your office?

From the parking structure, follow the signs to “The Galerie” (try to park in the back (mauka) of the parking structure for easy access). Once you reach The Galerie, the elevators will be towards your left. Take the elevator up to the 3rd floor, and my office will be the first door on the right. I share a clinic with my Aunty, who is an acupuncturist - the sign on the door says “An Lin Do, Inc.”

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, personal check, HSA/FSA cards, debit, and all major credit cards are accepted. Payment will be due at the time of service. Tax will be waived for cash and check payments. Debit and credit card payments will still be charged tax.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not currently accepting any insurance due to issues getting paid.

If would like to submit a claim to your insurance for reimbursement, please let me know and I can provide you with a “superbill” (detailed invoice of services).

How do I schedule a virtual appointment?

Schedule an appointment online as usual but make a note that you would like the visit to be virtual (please specify whether you prefer doing a video call or phone call).

What is the best way to reach you?

I do not have a receptionist, so it can be overwhelming for me to answer and return phone calls. The best way to reach me is through text or email. Thank you in advance for your understanding!

How many visits will I need in order to get better?

The frequency and duration of follow up care is different for every person. Each person has their own unique health history and health problems, which means the healing process and time it takes for each person to heal is going to be different. It depends on many factors such as the number of health issues you are dealing with, the severity of those health issues and whether they are acute or chronic, your lifestyle and environment, your commitment to the treatment plan, and your innate constitutional (genetic) makeup. It takes time to heal.

Why are your services so expensive?

Most insurance plans do not cover naturopathic services, unfortunately. I try to make my fees as affordable as possible because I want my services to be accessible to everyone, regardless of economic status. Before I even see you in the office, I review your intake and spend time researching and preparing for your case. The first visit is 1.5 hours to allow time to discuss your health concerns and goals, obtain a thorough health history, perform any necessary physical exams, and go over your detailed treatment plan that I put together for you. I dedicate a lot of time and effort to each case so that you can receive the best care possible.

*If you are struggling with finances, send me a message explaining your circumstances and we can hopefully work something out, whether that be in the form of a payment plan, sliding scale, or discount.

Can you be my primary care physician?

Although I am trained in primary care and treat all types of health conditions, I prefer not to operate as a primary care physician. Please keep seeing your current PCP for your annual physicals, routine screenings, and blood work.

Can you order labs?

Yes, I can order comprehensive blood work, as well as specialty tests such as hormone testing, comprehensive stool analysis, heavy metal testing, mycotoxin testing, etc. However, labs may be an out of pocket cost to you - please verify with your insurance first. I will likely recommend that you ask your primary care physician (PCP) to order specific blood work that will be covered by your insurance. If you have had any recent blood work or other labs, please upload it to Charm prior to the appointment or bring it to your visit.

Do you offer acupuncture?

Unfortunately I do not, but I will refer you to a trusted acupuncturist if I recommend acupuncture as part of your treatment plan.

Do you offer IV therapy?

I can provide you with my knowledge and recommendations regarding IV therapy, but I do not offer it.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Go to the patient portal on ChARM and select the option to cancel your appointment. Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. If you must cancel your appointment due to an emergency, please let me know as soon as possible.

Can I still see you if I don’t live in Hawai’i?

I am only licensed in the state of Hawai’i, so if you live out of state and would like to see me, I will not be acting in the capacity of a doctor (no “medical advice”). I offer educational health consultations to clients who live outside of Hawai’i.
